Apple TV+ is creating a WSL docuseries

Apple TV+ has made a splash in the streaming service market this year. In a year where more people are home and watching TV than ever, Apple TV+ is killing it. Along with the dramas, comedies, and movies, they also added a few sports shows as well. Well, next year they are looking to make a docuseries following the WSL. The series will be a six part behind the scens look at the World Surf Leauge season, beginning in Hawaii in December 2020 and leading up to crwning the champions in 2021.

The series will cover all different surfing cultures aspects including eco-conservation, sustainability and marine preservation. It will follow both the men and women of the WSL CT.

According to a press release, “The docuseries will be produced for Apple by Box to Box Films and in partnership with the WSL. Oscar and BAFTA Award-winner James Gay-Rees (“Exit Through the Giftshop,” “Amy”), BAFTA nominee Paul Martin (“Formula 1: Drive to Survive”), and Erik Logan (World Surf League) will executive produce on behalf of Box to Box Films.”

The CT kicked off for the Maui Pro presented by Roxy and the Billabong Pipemasters in December 2020.
