The Curious Tales of Ítalo Ferreira film shows the Brazilian’s rise to the top of the surfing world like never seen before.
The rise of pro surfer and air specialist Italo Ferreira is now the topic of a feature film. The Curious Tales of Italo Ferreira is a Red Bull film that showcases the life of the Brazilian surfing champ from childhood through his 2020 Olympic appearance. The film is available to watch on the Red Bull TV app at this time.
It is time that this man and surfing superstar should receive his own film. If you follow surfing at all you may have seen Ferreira sailing above the lip. He is spinning around, or yelling and screaming on the beach. He is a very passionate man who cares a great deal bout the sport of surfing. all of these things were made very clear in the film. Fans can get a deeper look into what makes Italo the man he is today.
The film starts out by showing Ferreira’s hometown and describing what it is like. He grew up in Baía Formosa, the son of a fisherman. Italo began riding waves on a small piece of styrofoam that he found. To see such humble beginnings and the rise to the top of the surf world is very inspiring. Italo then began to tour the world and became known as the king of air on the waves. His style is formed from his youth as well as his excitement for riding. He is shown charging hard and going fast, just like he loves to do.
A great way to follow Italo Ferreira’s road to the top
The editing of the film was great. Flashes between video and still photos that compliment each other really make the content pop. A scene near the beginning of the film shows Ferreira back in his hometown jumping off a wall into the water. He is just a guy doing what he has always done. The film follows him through his WSL championship and on to the Olympics, but not too focused on surfing but focused on the man he became along the way.
There are some appearances by top surfers Mick Fanning and Shane Dorian, both of which have a personal relationship with Ferreira. This is a must-watch for any surfing fan.
