First Look At Apple TV+ Surfing Docu-Series “Make or Break” Coming April 29
Apple TV+ is getting into the surf scene.
The company announced today that an upcoming seven-part documentary series will be premiering later this month and the series is about surfing. The upcoming series titled “Make or Break” will give an up-close and personal look at the world of competitive surfing. Each of the episodes will follow one of the most talented surfers on the planet as they navigate the competitive surfing scene. The ins and outs of the WSL Championship Tour will be on full display.
This series will be a good way for the WSL and the sport of surfing to get right into the homes of those not familiar with the competition side of surfing. The series is set to debut globally on Friday, April 29, on Apple TV+. The program has already been green-lit for an early season two renewal.
Athletes that will be spotlighted in the series are as follows:
- 11-Time World Champion Kelly Slater
- Seven-Time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore
- Three-Time World Champion Gabriel Medina
- Two-Time World Champion Tyler Wright
- 2019 World Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Italo Ferreira
- 2021 Olympian Tatiana Weston-Webb
In addition to the names mentioned above, there will be an all-star list of surfers making appearances in the series. Those names include Morgan Cibilic, Johanne Defay, Leonardo Fioravanti, Jeremy Flores, John John Florence, Filipe Toledo, Kanoa Igarashi, Matt McGillivray, Isabella Nichols, and Jack Robinson.
According to a press release:
“The docuseries is produced for Apple by Box to Box Films, in partnership with the WSL. Executive producers are Oscar and BAFTA winner James Gay-Rees (“Exit Through the Gift Shop,” “Amy”), BAFTA nominee Paul Martin (“Formula 1: Drive to Survive”), WSL CEO Erik Logan and Ryan Holcomb.”
The footage was filmed while the athletes were participating in the last season of the WSL CT all over the world.
