With the WSL Championship Tour just a few weeks away, the final touches of the roster are now set.

Winter is upon us and that means it is time to get back in the water. Maybe not for the average Joe sitting at home looking at the snow falling all around, but for the best surfers in the world, they are getting ready to get back into competition. The final roster for the WSL 2023 Championship Tour is finally set and in addition to all the great men and women on tour this year, are two names that will serve in a backup role if someone must pull out for any reason.

Teresa Bonvalot and Carlos Munoz have been named as replacement surfers for the first five stops of the tour season. These two will have the opportunity to fill in when needed and get some valuable tour experience along the way.

Getting To Know The WSL Tour Replacements Teresa Bonvalot And Carlos Munoz

Teresa Bonvalot is a goofy stance surfer out of Portugal. She began surfing at age 12 and had aspirations to make the tour early on. She has had some great finishes over the years but has not been able to string them together consistently. She will have an opportunity this year to possibly be amongst the best and get some much-needed competition time on some of the best waves in the world.

Carlos Munoz is a regular-footed surfer out of Costa Rica. He ended the 2022 season ranked 32nd but missed much of the year due to injury.  His most notable finish in 2022 was at the Billabong Pro Pipeline where he placed 9th.

These two will be in hand through the first five stops of the tour. The 2023 tour begins on Jan. 29 in Hawaii at the Billabong Pro Pipeline.
