The World’s Top Surfers Gather For The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational
In memory of Eddie Aikau, the legendary North Shore lifeguard and surfer, the big wave contest of the same name is scheduled to run again this year. The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational is a contest that takes place at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oʻahu. The three-month holding period for the competition has begun and will be from December 14, 2022, through March 23, 2023.
The big wave competition will often bring out the biggest stars and most talented athletes in surfing. The conditions for the event must be right so the event can run at any time between now and March. The conditions must be measuring at least 20 feet tall Hawaiian.
“The Eddie” as it is called held the opening ceremony last week in Waimea Bay and the beautiful function was captured in photo form by many involved.
This event is often referred to as “The Super Bowl of Surfing.” This is the 34th tie the competition is running. Those who want to donate to the Eddie Aikau Foundation can click the link provided.
