WSL Final Five Are Set For Lower Trestles -Men

It’s that time of year again. Around the world, temperatures begin to change and while much of the world prepares for colder weather, surfers prepare for bigger waves. For eight months the best surfers in the world have been competing on the WSL championship tour, which stops all around the globe including Africa, Australia, Brazil, Portugal, and more. Now the very best are headed to Southern California, Lower Trestles. For the past three years, Trestles has been home to the WSL Final event. Here champions will be crowned and legends can be made.
On the men’s side 2022 champion Filipe Toledo is sitting in a great spot to continue his reign. He is sitting in the number one spot coming into the Final and is wearing the yellow jersey. Last year he was able to hold off the charge from Italo Ferreira to claim his first world title. Toledo has been representing his champion status well this year with three wins at Hurley Pro Sunset Beach, Surf City El Salvador Pro, and Corona Open J-Bay.
Who will take him the title of 2023 WSL Champion?
Standing in Toledo’s way are four very good surfers. In the number two spot is Griffin Colapinto. Colapinto is having his best year on tour ever. He finished in the top five, six times on tour this year, with a win at the Surf Ranch Pro. Many believe that Colapinto is the man to take down Toledo. These two met three times on tour this year with Toledo coming out on top 2-1.
The rest of the field consists of Ethan Ewing in the number three spot, Joao Chianca sitting at number four, and Jack Robinson rounding out the top five. Each man will have their chance at making history at an epic wave at Trestles. Four of the top five have never won a world title before and should be hungry to do so.
