The very first year of Olympic surfing is now concluded and the gold medal is going home with Carissa Moore and Itilo Ferreira. Moore was a favorite coming into the competition and lived up to the pressure. Moore took home the championship in the WSL tour in 2019 and had plans of taking off the 2020 season in order to get ready for the Olympics last year. As it turned out, everyone had to take off in 2020, but she has shown that the time away from competition has not negatively affected her.

Moore will be able to hold that gold high above her head heading into the remainder of the WSL 2021 season and no matter what happens from here on out, she is the champ this year and possibly the best of all time.
