WSL Final Five Are Set For Lower Trestles -Women
It’s that time of year again. Around the world, temperatures begin to change and while much of the world prepares for colder weather, surfers prepare for bigger waves. For eight months the best surfers in the world have been competing on the WSL championship tour, which stops all around the globe including Africa, Australia, Brazil, Portugal, and more. Now the very best are headed to Southern California, Lower Trestles. For the past three years, Trestles has been home to the WSL Final event. Here champions will be crowned and legends can be made.
Last year Stephanie Gilmore made her way up the ranks starting in the number five spot at the WSL Final. She defeated four of the best competitors in the world to be crowned for the eighth time as the WSL champion. This year, unfortunately, she will not be in the running to repeat but there are five other women who are all looking to either add one more title to their shelf or be crowned for the very first time.

Five of the very best women surfers in the world will be competing for the Rip Curl WSL Final
Carissa Moore comes into the competition in the number one spot. This is familiar territory for Moore, she holds multiple world titles and last year came in the number one spot as well. She will be looking to hold off some young surfers including Molly Picklum and Caitlyn Simmers. Picklum and Simmers will be gunning for their very first world titles but will have a tough time getting past Moore, who has been waiting for redemption for a whole year.
Also in the running for a world title, this year is Caroline Marks. The one-time standout rookie is now a seasoned veteran and looking to add a world title to her ever-growing résumé. Coming off a win at Teahupo’o in Tahiti, Marks is streaking and hoping to show what she has in California.
Tyler Wright will round out the top five and will be pushing to add another world title to her mantle as well.
The holding period for the Rip Curl WSL Final will begin on September 8. Fans can tune in on WSL on YouTube or at worldsurfleague.com
